Telling Students They Are Wrong: The Value of Explicit Feedback

This session will present findings from current research to help inform and instruct practitioners in providing students the best feedback possible. Data regarding the held beliefs of preservice teachers will be shared as a means for teachers to examine their own beliefs about feedback loops for students. Specifically, it will inform teachers as to the problems associated with implicit feedback instead of explicit feedback. Of particular note will be the impacts of indirect feedback on second language learners.
